ICRP is pleased to share that Scientific Secretary & CEO Christopher Clement has been awarded the Foreign Minister’s Commendation of Japan.

The commendation was presented on 16 March 2026 by Ambassador Koji Yamanouchi, in recognition of Christopher’s longstanding contributions to promoting understanding of radiological protection in Japan following the Great East Japan Earthquake and the Fukushima Daiichi accident in 2011.

Through his work with ICRP, Chris has led and supported extensive dialogue with Japanese authorities, experts, and local communities, helping to foster mutual understanding and support recovery efforts in affected areas. This recognition also reflects the broader contributions of the ICRP community engaged in these efforts over many years.

ICRP warmly congratulates Christopher on this honour and thanks all those who have contributed to this important work.
