The Commission decided to retain existing committee structure, contrary to past proposals.
The new membership of the Commission was established via vote by ballot. Dr. Beninson and Professor Lindell were selected as Chairman and Vice-Chairman respectively.
The report on Index of Harm was accepted by the Commission in principle and published in blue covers in the Annals of the ICRP.
The Commission received progress updates regarding the work of the Committees:
C1 – Difficulties were reported regarding Influence of Biological Factors on the Risk of Cancer Induction. It remains to be seen whether the work of this TG continues. Completion of other reports is expected within the next 2 years.
C2 – The Commission agreed to the proposal to publish the report on Dose Calculations in the Annals, in blue covers.
C3 – The Commission approved of a proposal to establish working parties for revision of ICRP-15/21. How the report would be written would be left to the next Commission.
C4 – The reports on Monitoring for Internal Contamination and Planned and Unplanned Releases are expected to be completed by 1978 and forwarded to the Commission for final approval.
Prior to closing the meeting, Dr. Steward was thanked by the Commission for his conduct of the Commission’s business during his years of office.
