ICRP Main Commission Meeting

1967 April 3-12 London, UK

The Commission agreed to submit a memorandum to the International Congress of Radiology regarding its Rule No. 2 which deals with Commission election of members.

Extensive discussion was held regarding Commission funding. It was agreed to continue looking for additional sources of funding free of conditions.

The Commission decided that for the future, its own recommendations would not be published alongside reports of Committees or TGs.

The Commission was presented current updates regarding the work of Committees 1-4:

C1 – The Commission heard updates regarding several reports, specifically concerning radiosensitivity of different tissues/organs, and distribution of dose in the body. It was agreed to accept C1’s proposal regarding the addition of a pathologist to its membership.
C2 – Work is progressing on the most important reports, namely TG on Standard Man. Current versions and edited versions of reports will be sent to the Commission for review and possibly approval by mail ballot.
C3- The Commission gave feedback on Protection of the Report regarding specifying the need for education of users of this recommendation and to discuss the types of subjects that should be taught. The Commission approved the establishment of a new TG on revision of Publications 3 and 4.
C4 – The Commission approved of the publication of Evaluation of Internal Doses for inclusion in ICRP-7 and approved the continuation of the following reports: General Principles of Monitoring, Accidental and Emergency Exposures, Recurrent Internal Contamination, and Waste Disposal Practices. The Commission approved of proposal for C4 to establish liaison officers with other Committees.

The Commission decided that due to the unlikelihood of sufficient work being presented by the Commission for 1967, the next meeting would be scheduled for 1968.
