Task Group 100
ICRP Reflection Group on NCRP Council Committee 1
The National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements (NCRP) published its last complete set of basic recommendations in 1993 (NCRP Report No. 116). In the first quarter of 2014, a proposal to write an NCRP report on “Radiation Protection Guidance for the United States” was approved by the Board of Directors, as well as the creation of Council Committee N°1 (CC-1) in charge of developing the report. The Committee was established in the second quarter of 2014. A series of meeting of the full Committee occurred since then, and a first draft report is expected to be available by the end of 2015. The objective is to have a draft ready to begin the NCRP review and approval process by early 2017.
Given the intention of NCRP to involve various stakeholders, and particularly ICRP, to receive reaction, comments and suggestions as the NCRP recommendations continue to develop, and in order to achieve an effective cooperation with NCRP CC-1, the Commission has decided to establish a Reflection Group with the objective to provide input to the continued drafting and discussions process. Beyond interacting directly with NCRP CC-1, the ICRP Reflection Group should also serve as a mechanism to provide inputs from the various ICRP Committees. For this purpose, each Committee will nominate a representative to be a member of the Group.
A brief report at each Main Commission meeting during the whole process.
Comments sent by secretariat as an official communication of the Commission.
