ICRP

Task Group 81
Application of the Commission’s Recommendations to Radon Exposure

Terms of Reference: prepare a publication that describes and clarifies the application of the new recommendations (ICRP 103) for the protection of the members of the public and the workers (notably workers in uranium mines and other mines) against radon and thoron exposures in dwellings, workplaces and other types of locations. The publication will discuss in which cases exposure to radon is either a planned exposure situation or an existing exposure situation with the relevant application of the RP principles, as well as the dosimetric reference and the rational behind. The publication will also address the setting of reference levels and dose constraints as relevant.

The publication will built on the previous ICRP 65, Publications 101 and 103, the joint C1-C2-C4 report on assessment and control of lung cancer risk from radon and the November 2009 Commission’s Statement on radon as well as experience from many countries and organisations.

Deliverables: Report on the application of RP principles to radon exposure, to update ICRP 65. Total volume including Annexes: max. 50 pages.
