3.9 Uncertainties in Biokinetic Models

Papers by Leggett et al (1998, 2001, 2003), Likhtarev et al (2003), Harrison et al (2001), Skrable et al, (2002) and [Sánchez (2007)] provide detailed discussion on the reliability of biokinetic models.

5.3 Routine Monitoring

Recentwork (Etherington et al., 2004) has used Monte-Carlo simulation techniques to evaluate uncertainties in intakes and doses taking account of uncertainties in these factors. [Alternative methods considering random occupational intakes are descrited by Lopez-Fidalgo et al, 2005 and Sanchez, 2007]

6.3 Interpretation of Monitoring Data

(iii) Tissue retention and excretion
[Predicted values of activity in tissues or excreta as a function of time for constant chronic, irregular and random intakes in occupational exposures, even taking into account periods without intake (weekends, holidays, etc.) has been developed by Sanchez 2007 and it is available as an web resource]

7.6.3 Multiple Measurements

The Bayesian approach is not applied in the guidelines but has been discussed by
Miller et al. (2002a and 2003) and is also discussed in Annex E.
