The Scientific Secretariat
The Scientific
Secretariat currently resides in Stockholm, Sweden. However, the seat of ICRP
remains in the United Kingdom where ICRP is a Registered Charity.
The secretariat prepares and organises all Main Commission meetings.
The meetings of the Committees and
Task Groups, although not organised by the Secretariat, also generate a number
of administrative tasks.
The Scientific Secretary (photo, 57 kb) is also the editor of
the Annals of the ICRP, and final editing of reports for publication plus
various discussions and negotiations with the publisher, Elsevier Science Ltd,
constitute another major task for the Secretariat.
The Scientific Secretary devotes a considerable time to establishing
contacts, participating in meetings etc, and such contacts are expected to
continue to be an important task for the Secretariat. Standard administrative
issues such as book-keeping and attention to mail and documents and archives are
always a part of the Secretariat’s daily tasks.
