Educational Area

Here, ICRP is launching an area with downloadable ICRP material aimed at promoting knowledge about radiological protection. Initially, we will focus primarily on radiation as used in medicine.

ICRP proudly presents four new ’slide sets’ in Microsoft PowerPoint format, downloadable here at no cost. They can be used by teachers, doctors, and those interested in radiological protection in medicine, together with recent medical reports. They describe:

  •  ICRP 84, Pregnancy and medical radiation (1.3 Mb)
  •  ICRP 85, Interventional radiology (1.4 Mb)
  •  ICRP 86, Accidents in radiotherapy (0.8 Mb)
  •  ICRP 87, CT dose management (0.6 Mb)
  •  ICRP 93, Digital radiology (1.2 Mb)
  •  ICRP 93, Digital radiology, Spanish version (1.2 Mb)

A summary called Radiation and your Patient: A Guide for Medical Practitioners can be downloaded here (142 kB).

An explanatory note on Diagnostic Reference Levels can be downloaded here (53 kB).

Please note that while we encourage you to download and use these modules, ICRP has the copyright and you must not edit or try to sell the files.

Style edited versions of these modules are available as ICRP Supporting Guidance 2 in the Annals of the ICRP. When experience of their use has been gained, we may contemplate updated versions, and ICRP would welcome your comments on the present documents. Please send your comments to the Scientific Secretary of ICRP, Dr Jack Valentin, at scient.secretary@ icrp.org (postal address ICRP, SE-171 16 Stockholm, Sweden, fax +46 8 729 729 8).

    Summary Recommendations

As a service to those who need an introduction to the topic, we are also providing a cost-free copy of the summary of the current basic Recommendations of ICRP (Publication 60) here. This 11-page summary cannot, of course, replace the full 200-page report which can be ordered here. Please note that the summary is copyright protected and may only be downloaded for your personal use.

    ICRP Posters: Paediatric radiology

We have also produced an advisory poster (English) / (Spanish) and sticker (English and Spanish) for paediatric radiology, in collaboration with ISR (the International Society for Radiology) and Agfa (a commercial supplier of x-ray films). A Japanese translation is under way. Please feel free to download copies of these files here for individual use at your clinic or department. For limited numbers of printed paper copies, please contact us. We would also be most interested in distribution agreements in where we do not currently have arrangements in place (current arrangements include the Americas and Japan only). For more details, please get in touch.
